Tornar-se Quilombo Urbano: Ressignificando Territórios e Identidades na Comunidade Boa Esperança

Abstract

The research investigated the processes of re-signification of territory and Black identities in the struggle for self-recognition of the Boa Esperança Community as an urban quilombo. The methodology used was Oral History, which allowed the involvement of the researcher, research participants, and their oral traditions. The research employed field diaries and recorded semi-structured interviews as instruments. The study aimed to understand how the community self-identifies as an urban quilombo and how this influences their fight for the defense of their territory. Additionally, the research explored the narratives and memories of the residents, seeking to understand how collective stories are constructed and which narratives contest the silencing or exaltation of what is retained in the memories of the community's struggle.
